ANZUNS Advanced Urology Nursing Practice Group
ANZUNS Advanced Urology Nursing Practice Group is seeking expressions of interest from urology nurses looking to advance their practice. This group was previously branded as the Nurse Practitioners SIG. The rationale for the name change is to make the group more attractive to urology nurses as many people think the group is exclusively for NPs.
The purpose of the group is to offer an opportunity to provide support and professional development for nurses looking to advance their skills. This is achieved through the sharing of information and the chance for individuals to discuss practice issues, and seek advice from other members who might be experiencing similar issues. Membership is open to all nurses looking to advance their practice.
The group also organises a workshop for the annual scientific meeting on topics relevant to advanced practice nurses. The workshops and annual meeting are open to all members of ANZUNS.
Achievements to date include the ongoing presentation of pre-conference workshops that are proving very popular. This group is responsible for the development and presentation of one of the workshops.
The group meets each year before the conference begins to look at issues that have arisen during the year for members.
The group is also a contact point for SUNA, BAUN and GAUN. This provides the opportunity for sharing of information from these groups that is relevant to our practice.
