Intermittent (self) catheterisation and UTI prevention

We are undertaking a randomised control trial to evaluate a way to reduce the risk of UTIs in people who undertake self-catheterisation. The trial has Human Research Ethics approval, is registered with the Australian and New Zealand Clinical Trial registry (ACTRN12623000917639) and is funded by a National Health and Medical Research Council grant. The study involves the use of an antiseptic wipe prior to intermittent urinary catheterisation.

We are currently recruiting participants for the trial.

As professionals working in this area, this trial might be of interest to some of your patients. If you feel it could be, please feel free to direct them to or to contact us directly via Dr Kate Browne, the trial coordinator
