The purpose of this award is to advance the professional development and education of Nurse Practitioner’s (NP) and Advanced Practice Nurses (APN). The recipient of this award will be able to help fund further tertiary education to specialise their skills and or/advance their practice.
There are two types of applicable pathways to apply. Either be a NP or an APN who may endeavour to become a Nurse Practitioner in the future.
This award includes:
- $2,500 Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Practice Nurses Professional Development award 2026 Award payable to the recipient
All complete applications will be considered, and the successful applicant should meet the following criteria:
- A Registered Nurse practicing in Australia or New Zealand
- Be a member of ANZUNS for a minimum of 2 years (consecutive)
AND
- Work a minimum of 20 hours per week in the field of urology nursing (CV required)
AND
- Fulfill either type 1 or type 2 as follows:
Type 1:
- Registered NP with AHPRA (provide AHPRA number in application), OR
- Proof of enrolment in an AHPRA approved Master of NP course, including a letter of support from mentor/supervisor
Type 2:
- Evidence of working in an advanced practice level for at least 7 years, including a letter of support from a direct manager/mentor (in the field of urology)
AND
- Provides a detailed letter outlining how their role demonstrates the 5 domains of advanced practice, i.e. clinical practice, optimising health systems, education, leadership, and research in the field of urology.

- A declaration of any real or perceived conflicts of interest in relation to receiving this award or the proposed use of this award.
Conditions of the ANZUNS Nurse Practitioner and Advanced Practice Nurses Professional Development Sapphire Award 2026
- Applications for this award will be reviewed by the Nurse Practitioner Special Interest Group chair and 2 ANZUNS directors.
- This award can only be received once by an ANZUNS member.
- It is a requirement of the recipient to participate in an educational activity before February 05, 2027. This could be a presentation at an educational event or webinar, or another activity approved by ANZUNS Executive prior to being awarded. Failure to do so will result in ineligibility to receive any other ANZUNS awards/scholarships for at least 5 years.
- The winner will be announced at the ANZUNS 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting, held in Melbourne.
